Playback Images is an Amsterdam-based production company with over 20 years of experience in producing high-quality documentaries, TV shows, and series for cinema, TV, streaming services and online platforms.

Whether it concerns documentaries or collaborations with museums or brands, Playback Images is an all-round creative production house with in-house full-service post-production facilities and a strong journalistic background.We develop formats, write scripts and organise productions and shoots. We are also experienced in the finishing and delivery process. If needed, we are also able to provide different forms of distribution.

We make historically driven projects, but we also look at recent stories and develop non-fiction formats in multiple genres, from human interest documentaries, series, branded content to science programs. Our rich experience in research and engaging with a variety of archives is our USP.

Most of our staff consists of a permanent team that is well coordinated. They are able to determine the best role division for a variety of productions: for example, consider shooting in extreme locations or directing from a storytelling point of view. At the same time, they also excel in an editorial, creative and journalistic sense.

We are a member of the NAPA (Nederlandse Audiovisuele Producenten Alliantie), which provides a collective voice to independent professional producers. The approximately 80 members are active in various disciplines, including feature films, drama series, documentaries, animation, interactive productions and games. The professional association aims to promote the common interests of its members and strengthen the production climate.
